Presenting a Vision for Integrated Brain-Gut-Sleep Therapy via ‘Whole-Body PBM’
at the Korean Society of Brain Neural Therapy

“The paradigm of cranial nerve therapy is shifting
from ‘local stimulation’ to ‘systemic network therapy’.”

It was announced that Lee Yoon-sung, Director of the Huelight Medical Research Institute,
drew the attention of the academic community as an invited speaker at the ‘2026 Winter Conference
of the Korean Society of Brain Neural Therapy (KBNT),’ held at the Lavender Hall on the 2nd floor
of the Samjeong Hotel in Seoul on Saturday, February 21st.

Participating as a speaker in the ‘Transcranial Photobiomodulation’ session that day,
Director Lee presented a new integrated treatment strategy moving beyond
the existing neurocentric approach under the theme, “The era of treating only the brain is over.”

Director Lee defined brain disease not as a localized problem within the brain,
but as a ‘failure of the systemic network’ connecting the Gut, Brain, and Sleep. He stated,
“More important than inhibiting the production of pathological proteins (closing the faucet) is the restoration
of the broken drainage system (unclogging the drain),” emphasizing the activation of the ‘Glymphatic System,’
which washes away brain waste during sleep, as a key therapeutic mechanism.

In particular, the results of a pilot clinical trial targeting Parkinson’s disease patients using
Huelight’s technology were revealed during the lecture, gathering significant interest.

According to the presentation, Whole-Body PBM therapy not only significantly improved patients’ cognitive and
motor functions (MDS-UPDRS) but also maximized the brain’s clearance function by inducing natural Deep Sleep
through the activation of the parasympathetic nervous system during treatment.

Director Lee Yoon-sung stated, “The brain is not an isolated organ, and Whole-Body PBM is a network solution
that simultaneously connects the brain, gut, and sleep.”
He added, “The results of this study will serve as a new breakthrough for the treatment of intractable brain diseases.”
