Industrial Classification of Hydrogen Inhalation Devices
Hydrogen inhalation devices, while recently proven to have therapeutic effects, are still considered industrial products in most countries, excluding the U.S., Japan, and China, as of August 2024, since they have not yet been officially classified as medical devices (by legal regulation).
In China, hydrogen inhalation devices are legally classified as Class III devices for treating chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD); however, most hydrogen inhalation devices sold in China are still categorized as industrial products.
In Japan, hydrogen gas is approved for therapeutic use.
