Randomized Controlled Clinical Trial of Hydrogen/Oxygen Inhalation for Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD)

Hydrogen/oxygen inhalation improved systemic inflammation and liver histology in mice, promoting autophagy inhibited by chlorquine. It also reduced lipid accumulation in AML-12 cells and enhanced palmitic acid-induced autophagy with 20% hydrogen. Adding 3-methyladenine partially reversed hydrogen’s lipid-lowering effects. Overall, hydrogen/oxygen inhalation alleviated moderate to severe NAFLD.
